Schemes — read the substation first

Protection starts from the single-line diagram. Read a CAD SLD (DXF parsed structurally, DWG by annotation scan) or pick a typical substation scheme — the recognized bays, each with the ANSI function set a utility spec would assign, then generate your relay bench.

Read a drawing (DWG / DXF)

The reader recognizes bay annotations — INCOMER, FEEDER F1, TR1, 52, 13.8 kV, CT/VT ratios, ANSI device numbers — and classifies them into protection bays. DXF is the open exchange format and parses fully; for DWG, export to DXF for best results.
